FRESH MEET (UPDATED)
Design Brief
Fresh Meet, is a company created as an online service for the use of artists; with a dual purpose behind. The company offers artists and designers fresh inspiration from new artists. Parallel to that, we give those new artists & designers the opportunity to show what they create and become known by those who appreciate or relate to their work.
The Name “Fresh Meet” derived from the concept of literally buying or simply receiving some fresh me(A)t. I wanted it to transmit an offer, a benefit to the client. The word meat however, was spelled “meet”, as in ‘meeting someone’ because it represents our goal; which is to bring artists and designers together in order for them to share their ideas and help each other produce new ones.
More than a business, Fresh Meet is to be considered more of a trade. However, there is finance involved. For the company to maintain its website/app (in the future?), the clients which would be the new and unknown artists and designers, would pay for their subscription to become a part of the fresh meet community. The company introduces these designers and artists to society through the website, making them well-known, pushing them towards success and maybe even fame. Fresh Meet also is in charge of designing the layout of their work and adding persuasive text by our team of editors and designers. Our team includes an art director, a graphic designer, a “filter” manager, and a scouter who scouts our clients by offering them the opportunity of becoming “Fresh Meat”.
Our competitors were initially companies that were my inspiration and that share a few of this company’s concepts. MILK Studios, which is a website that talks about culture, fashion, world, technology, society, music and art. They are all articles including images and videos but its purpose is to inspire and influence. Tumblr, is an online blog where users from all over the world share their own photography and is reposted or “Reblogged” by anyone who has an account; forming their own blog by collecting images and videos from other blog accounts. Another company is MAN REPELLER. Man repeller is a blog for fashion mostly but also includes articles and opinions about society.
The clients we are looking for are strong, innovative, avant-garde, cult, skilled and talented artists and designers. We need artists who know what people want but don’t know how to give it to them. We want clients that take risks, yet are confident about what they're doing and trust that we will support and help them reach the audience they want to reach.
We want to portray culture, confidence, revolution, music and art. At the same time, these success rookies will inspire and contribute to the culture of visual art of virtual users (and maybe even future artists/designers).
This is a screenshot of the home page of the website, “FRESH MEET”, it gives the client an idea of the vibe and the aesthetic of our company and the type of art we are looking for and the type of art we are offering.
This is a screen shot from the “about” section in the company website. The information on this tab is a brief introduction to the concept; who we are and what we offer.
This is the art & photography section of the website. This works by making sub sections or posts of the different artists or photographers that would contribute to our website. They would be credited and a personal link to their bio and information would be linked and would be found in the “the butchers” section of the website, where all the artists and designers that contribute would be found and could even be contacted.
This is a screen shot of the fashion section in the website. The fashion section like any other section is based on posts or sub sections talking about the artists or designers behind it and will also have a link that directs the client to the information of this artist in the “the butchers” section. This section includes the fashion photography of this designer’s fashion collection.

FISCHLI & WEISS REVIEW
col·lab·o·ra·tion
kəˌlabəˈrāSH(ə)n/
noun
1. the action of working with someone to produce or create something.
A collaboration is when a group of people work together to produce something new. In order to do this, every member contributes to this development in a different way. Each person has a different skill or idea and they all complete each other to do this collaboration.
Peter Fischli and David Weiss, gathered more than 300 sculptures, photographs, videos and installations from the artists’ joint career, unlike a traditional retrospective in order to create the “How to work better” exhibition. They wanted to focus on the idea of dualistic thinking. They produced what they understood to be “popular opposites” - labor versus leisure, fiction versus reality, kitsch versus beauty, and the banal versus the sublime. The artists embodied this though their alter egos; Rat (rats being ugly and ubiquitous) and Bear (pandas are lovable and endangered). This pair or combination represented equal stature in their many misadventures.
The term ‘collaboration’ clearly influenced and basically represents Fischli and Weiss’ exhibition due the fact that it was based off the concept of collaboration and combination of two or more different mentalities and ideas in order to produce or create something new; as show at the museum.
Design Brief Moodboard

PLP POST ENTRY
Although many projects or examples of designs for social change that are similar to the purpose of my design brief, I chose the “funding social design” project. It was basically about discovering or creating strategies to help fund small projects in order to make them big. My design brief idea is to create a company that is viewed as a website that provides artists new ideas relating to music, art, fashion and design (of a certain aesthetic) in order to inspire and to help them create whatever they create. The website is made to transmit new ideas, including new artists (musicians, fashion designers, etc.) not only for those new faces to succeed and grow but also to help those who admire them and visit the company’s website. This concept relates to the book’s idea of helping a brand grow and excel in what they do through the use of marketing. From being a student at Parsons, I learned that most of what we learn is from people in our class; from the way they think, from their experiences, from where they came from and from what they dedicate their time to or what type of art they create. So from this, I found out how we can all help each other out by using each other’s talents and passions in order to create something new. The company I would develop would be based on that idea of using this media to help unknown artists become known in the world of art and design but at the same time they are contributing as a resource of images, art, music, fashion, or just ideas for those who need the inspiration.
